What we do
Our promotional activity Our promotion includes: • owning and managing our local website; • advertising our area in local and regional publications; • membership of our Regional Tourism Organisation; • working closely with our local Visitor Information Centre; and • active involvement in another regional initiative The Tablelands Way experience, a touring region stretching from Canberra in the south to the Hunter in the north. This activity has resulted in a continued increase in visitation measured by a count of visitors to the Visitor Information Centre. As at September 2009 visitors have increased by around 15% on the same period last year which was itself a record year. Benefits of membership OPTA members are entitled to free display space in the Oberon Visitors Centre for their brochures and publicity for their events, and inclusion on summary listings provided by the Visitor Centre such as “Activities and Attractions” and “Accommodation”. Each member is also entitled to a free listing of their business or hobby on the Associations website. Meet other members Monthly meetings are held every second Monday of the month and include a meal and opportunity to meet other members in a friendly informal atmosphere. These meetings provide a forum for exchange of ideas, lectures, field visits etc on tourism related matters.
