CTC, Library and Community Facilities

Oberon has great community facilities for locals and visitors to enjoy.

If access to up-to-date and fast technology is important to you, drop by the Oberon Community Technology Centre (CTC). The purpose of the CTC is to provide the community with access to the internet, as well as obtaining information and developing technology skills and knowledge. The CTC is co-located with the Visitor Information Centre, and is a wireless access point. The CTC is a welcoming centre, which has disabled access and facilities. It has a training room with ten networked computers and a wide range of software applications. The CTC offers a range of classes and help with many aspects of technology. The CTC utilizes Central West Community College instructors to assist with some courses. The CTC’s volunteers also teach classes, such as courses on family history, and the basics of using a computer and the internet. The CTC’s conference room and meeting rooms are perfect for courses and meetings, as the conference room has a television and DVD player, and there is also a whiteboard, data projector and screen, and an overhead projector. 

The Oberon community is lucky to have the Oberon Council Library in the centre of town. The library is a very friendly place, where you can come and peruse your favourite book in a quiet comfortable environment or even find, with the help of their friendly staff, your next great read. The library has an extensive range offiction and non-fiction resources, as well as biographies, large print novels, children’s books, DVDs, videos and talking books, as well as internet access. The library also holds free school holiday activities for local children and story time.

Right next door to the Oberon Library is the Robert Hooper Community Centre. This modern extended community centre is run by the Oberon Council. Thecentreis a wonderful meeting spot and base for a number of community groups, including mothers’ groups, sewing and needle working groups and many others. Thecentrehas a number of different rooms as well as great facilities, including disabled facilities.
