Lake Oberon or Oberon Dam is regularly stocked with brown and rainbow trout and can be fished throughout the year from the water's edge. Boating and swimming are prohibited without special permission. Most streams contain trout and are stocked with trout fingerlings periodically.

Access points exist to Lake Oberon and local streams, but permission must be sought from the owner if water is on private property. The two fishing spots suggested for visitors to the Lake are: Kelly's Bay (and nearby Racecourse Creek) and the Oberon Dam Picnic Area.

The season for stream fishing opens at the start of the October long weekend and closes at the end of the June long weekend.

All anglers must have a Freshwater Fishing License. This can be obtained from the Shell Garage.
