Festivals

Spring and summer are a delight in Oberon, as the days warm and the countryside comes to life. There is no better way to celebrate these glorious seasons in Oberon than with a community festival, celebrating the diversity and bounty of the area.
Oberon has a very rich history and heritage, and of course its very own special stories, tales, characters and traditions which are cherished by the locals who know them. During Oberon’s festivals, it is the perfect time for visitors to come and experience more about what makes Oberon so unique and treasured by those who make it their home.
Oberon has two fantastic festivals which burst to life during spring and summer.
The Oberon and Villages Festival of Spring Gardens comes to life just as the first graceful heads of daffodils start to show across the town.

During the spring months, each weekend is packed with fantastic events in Oberon and in its circle of villages, from open gardens, farmers markets, concerts and balls at the magical underground at world class Jenolan Caves, open houses at local historic homes, country fairs, flower shows and of course the open weekends at mind-boggling Mayfield Garden.
Once the trees are a haze of green and laden with fruit, the song of crickets have filled the balmy air and the season of bounty is upon us, there is no better way to experience the district and all it has to offer than to visit one of many events during the Oberon and Villages Summer Festival.
The summer festival is full to the brim with events and festivities, including of course the annual Oberon Agricultural Show. Here among all the showtime trimmings, wander the charming Oberon showground and experience local produce and livestock at its very best. During the show each summer locals and visitors swarm to experience wool, dog, art and cooking competitions and exhibits, dog trials, pony rides, helicopter joy flights, as well as horse events and the ever exciting bull ride.
Be reminded of a simpler time with the Highlands Steam and Vintage Fair, another massive event during the Oberon and Villages Summer Festival. This unique event draws hundreds of visitors to the town, and transports them back in time with an enormous collection of vintage machinery and vehicles from across the state. Watch on Oberon’s tree-lined main street and chat with some colourful locals as an impressive parade of hundreds of vintage machines rumble past, or be transferred back in history with demonstrations, such as tractor pulls and ploughing competitions.

Escape the summer heat by delving into the cool underground at Jenolan Caves, cheer on determined riders at the endurance horse rides through the shady pine forests and over the tumbling hills at Native Dog Station, fill your basket with fresh summer produce at The Tablelands Way Oberon Farmers Markets, and be thrilled with all the dust and action of the Oberon Rodeo.
