1st Annual Lithgow Valley Cup Comes to Ironfest
Currently Ironfest is the only place you can experience all the action, drama and bone crushing manoeuvres of live pro wrestling in the Lithgow region. This mini tournament to crown the first cup holder will take place on Saturday April 27 and is open to a range of contenders including rookies, veterans and locals.
Pro wrestlers from the Blue Mountains and Central West regions will converge on 'The Kingdom of Ironfest' in 'The Shed' for an opportunity not only to be the first Lithgow Valley cup holder, also, the winner will receive a future Blue Mountains World Heritage title match. Former Australian heavyweight champion and Bathurst local Shane 'Ace' Fenton will be on hand to referee the final and present the cup to the victor. Fans may be familiar with Ace as he presented the Blue Mountains World Heritage championship to Robbie Eagles back in 2014 in Blackheath. Ace also came out of retirement after 25 years to face former champion Bishop Sommers. Ace said, " It’s an honour to be invited back to Blue Mountains Pro Wrestling. I had the pleasure to present the belt back in 2014 and I am excited to be back in 2019 to present the Cup at Ironfest in Lithgow."
"I look forward to getting back into the ring to enforce the rules and manage the carnage that will no doubt occur. I’ve been a resident of the Central West for the past 25 years and have a strong connection to Lithgow as it’s the birth place of my grandmother. Australia currently has some of the best wrestlers in the world competing around the globe. I’m excited to be a part of Blue Mountains Pro Wrestling at Ironfest in the great City of Lithgow."
Marek Indyka, one of the promoters of Blue Mountains Pro Wrestling and a former resident of Lithgow said, "I'm excited to be bringing the first ever Lithgow Valley Cup to Ironfest, this is something locals from not only Lithgow but around the Central West and Blue Mountains can really get behind. Blue Mountains Pro Wrestling has always been big on earning your opportunity in the ring and rewarding championship matches to worthy contenders. Although we will be continuing rewarding worthy contenders The Lithgow Valley cup is open to any level of experience, wrestlers who have competed for 25 years or wrestlers competing for the first time. This has the potential to create some very interesting matchups and possible career changing upsets." Marek also said, "The cup will no doubt have a regional feel with wrestlers from Oberon, Bathurst, Katoomba, Penrith and Hawkesbury all competing."
Blue Mountains Pro Wrestling will be holding matches on both April 27th and 28th in The Shed, matches start 11am, 1pm and 3pm. Lithgow Valley Cup will be held on Saturday 27th.
