It is a fun activity for the family and you may even find some gold, sapphires, zircons, and occasionally diamonds and smokey quartz. There are some perfect designated fossicking spots in the area, but if you would like to give it a try before heading out on your own, drop into the Oberon Visitor Information Centre and have a practice at the Beginner’s Luck Fossicking Patch. Here you can refine your technique and get some handy tips from their friendly staff.
